In My Mailbox (29)

5:41 PM

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren where we share any new books or goodies we bought, received, borrowed, etc. during the week.

This week I got...

Won:
I won this ARC from Janette Rallison during her month of giveaways on her blog in celebration of the release of the novel! I kept forgetting to enter but I actually remembered to one day and it happened I was one of the winners... which is so cool and surprising! She also gave me a couple bookmarks but I forgot to include them so I'll try to remember for my next IMM to do so. Thanks so much for the copy and personalizing it Janette!

Received for Review:
Thanks so much to HarperCollins Canada for sending me Divergent! I've been dying to read it and I might have hugged the copy as soon as it was in my hands... And a huge thank you to Random House Canada and Quirk Books for sending all three of the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies novels! Jane Austen with a zombie twist? Sounds like fun!

Bought:
I bought Blindight and Never Let Me Go because they're part of my required reading for a science fiction summer university half-course I'm taking soon. I just need to buy one more and then I'll have all four that I need for the class. I think it's pretty cool that Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games is also one of the required readings!

And then, of course, when I learned that We'll Always Have Summer was out in stores early, I just had to buy it! I'll be sad to see the trilogy end but I also can't wait to see what's going to happen...

What about YOU? Any new reads/finds this week?

And as always... Happy Reading!

  2. Never Let Me Go was one of the best books that I have ever read. It's very touching and realistic. I love Pride and Prejudice and Zombies :) It was funny. I haven't read the others though. Anyway, happy reading :)

  3. My Unfair Godmother looks like a fun read. I don't think I've read any mash up books and the P&P ones look like a good one to start. Happy reading!

  5. That sounds like a cool course to be taking! I'm trying to decide right now where to go to university--U of T or UBC--and I've got no idea! You do go to U of T, right? (I seem to remember you saying that in some post some time back....) How do you like it? Would you recommend it to someone?

  7. I think I would hug 'Divergent' as well, haha. Can't wait to read it!!

Those are definitely some cool sounding books for a course. It'll be interesting to read THG from an academic perspective, I bet.

  10. I need to see what that 'Divergent' is about, I keep seeing it lately. I got a few books, one of'em I'm reading now is 'City of Bones' by Cassandra Clare and surprisingly its pretty good. :)

Hopefully you enjoy your books. :)

  11. Shaylene- I'm glad to hear you loved Never Let Me Go! Gives me a good feeling about it too!

Emily- Yup, I go to U of T! I can't really compare to UBC (University of British Columbia?) because I don't know anything about that school but U of T is one of the best schools in the country! Everyone pretty much complains about it though b/c of the large workload and exams that test you wayyyy above what you've actually learned... but you can't really get over the prestige of the school, you know? As for recommending it, it's really hard to say because it depends on the program you're interested in. Some schools might be better in that case then...

Danya- I'm definitely going to have to put time aside for it... or I'll probably end up staying up all night reading it....

Ashley- I think it's by interesting to read it from academic perspective too... although I'm kind of worried it might ruin the book for me if I'm thinking so hard about it, lol.

Alex- Yes! Definitely check out the Unfair Godmother books... I don't know how anyone can say they don't like the books! I've already started writing a review for My Unfair Godmother.... :)

Jessica- The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare is one of my absolute favourites! I don't find it entirely too surprising that you're enjoying them so much! ^.~
