Waiting on Wednesday (54) - Tempest by Julie Cross
8:00 AMWaiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine spotlighting upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Summary (from Goodreads):
The year is 2009. Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.
That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.
Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.
But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler. Recruit… or kill him.
Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.
Refreshing plot where the MC gets caught in the past trying to save his girlfriend? Check! Male POV, a type of narration I don't read enough of? Check! An awesome free-falling cover? Why, yes... check! As you can tell, I'm really loving the sound of Tempest, the first novel in a new trilogy by debut author Julie Cross!

I love this sound of this one! I'm the same as you: if it's got time-travel, a male POV and an awesome cover, then it's definitely for me! Great pick :). (Your header is really pretty by the way.)
ReplyDeleteLove this cover. It really reminds me of the cover for Hush, Hush.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally looking forward to this one as well — love the cover and the time travel premise!
ReplyDeleteI have this one on my wishlist too :) I absolutely love the cover.
ReplyDeleteLiz- Thank you for the compliment! :)
ReplyDeleteJenny- The first time I saw the cover, I was reminded of Hush, Hush as well!
Thanks so much for the mention!! and you guys are pretty sharp! It probably reminds you of HUSH HUSH because James Porto (the HUSH HUSH photography) did the photo shoot for TEMPEST as well (I know! Major squeal!) I nearly died when I found out he was going to be artistic vision behind the cover art. He's so, so brilliant. Love how it turned out though I can only take credit for the pages inside the book :)
ReplyDeleteYES to this one! Seriously! Just yes! I love me some time traveling and this has great stakes!
