To my fellow Canadians, are you ready to mark your calendars? Here are some upcoming bookish events to look forward to in September!

Smart Chicks Kick It! Tour


The Smart Chicks Kick It! Tour will be making its way to Canada! Kelley Armstrong, Melissa Marr, Jennifer Lynn Barnes and more will be attending the two Canadian stops in Vancouver and Ottawa. To see the full authors in attendance at each event, you can see the schedule on the Smart Chicks Kick It! website.
  • Saturday, October 1 at 2:00 p.m. ~ Chapters Metrotown: Metropolis, Metrotown 4700 Kingsway, Burnaby, BC.  
  • Monday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m. ~ Nepean Centrepointe, a branch of the Ottawa Public Library: 101 Centrepointe, Ottawa, ON.
Lena Coakley

Canadian author Lena Coakley, who's debut novel Witchlanders was recently released, will be celebrating the launch of the novel and signing copies too! 
Kenneth Oppel

Canadian author Kenneth Oppel will be in British Columbia promoting his latest novel, This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein! Here are the details for the first event:
  • Tuesday, October 4 at 6:00 p.m. ~ Chapters Victoria: 1212 Douglas Street, Victoria, BC. (This event is FREE as compared to his second event below, where there is a charge.)
The second event will be hosted by Vancouver Kidsbooks but held at an offsite venue. Tickets worth $5 are also required to attend. If you'd like to purchase a ticket or learn more about the event, you can find the information here on their website.
  • Thursday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. ~ West Point Grey United Church Sanctuary: 4595 West 7th Avenue., Vancouver, BC. 
Rick Riordan

Rick Riordan will be promoting his latest novel in The Heroes of Olympus series, The Son of Neptune, in Toronto as the only Canadian stop during Olympian week.
  • Thursday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. ~ Indigo Yorkdale: 3401 Dufferin Street, Unit #29, Toronto, ON.
Scott Westerfeld

Scott Westerfeld will be promoting Goliath, the final novel in the steampunk Leviathan trilogy, in British Columbia! Similar to the Kenneth Oppel event above, the event will be hosted by Vancouver Kidsbooks but held at an offsite venue. Tickets worth $5 are also required to attend.   • Tuesday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. ~ West Point Grey United Church Sanctuary: 4595 West 7th Avenue., Vancouver, BC.
Becca Fitzpatrick

New York Times bestselling author Becca Fitzpatrick, author of the Hush, Hush series, will be coming back to Canada again!
  • Thursday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. ~ Chapters Brampton: Market Hall, 52 Quarry Edge Drive, Brampton, ON.

I'm not exactly sure yet if I'll be attending any of these events this month. Lena Coakley's book launch for Witchlanders or the Rick Riordan event are potential possibilities though! (I've only read The Lightening Thief, but a couple of my cousins love reading Rick Riordan's novels, so in any case, I'll definitely be letting them know about the upcoming event...)

  2. I'm going to Rick Riordan's signing because my brother loves his books, but I wish I could go to Lena Coakley's too! I haven't read Witchlanders and I want to SO BADLY.
