Book Blogger Hop + Follow Friday (13)
12:09 AMFollow Friday and Book Blogger Hop are weekly events hosted by Rachel at Parajunkee and Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books respectively.
This week's FF question is: What makes up your non-human family?
Meet Georgia, my family's cockatiel bird. Not only is she older than me, but she also loves to drive my sister nuts and says, "Pretty bird!"
This week's BBH question is: Why do you read the genre that you do? What draws you to it?
I love reading YA fiction but within this category, I don't stick to a particular genre! I'll read anything ranging from paranormal, dystopian, contemporary, romance, etc., etc.! I try to keep an open mind and as long as the story sounds like something I would enjoy, then I'll read it! I'm drawn to these stories in that anything can happen- a girl can find her prince, zombies can rise from the dead... I'm sure you know what I mean. I also read adult books sometimes! They usually have some sort of crossover appeal and even more often times, they're urban fantasy with kick-butt main characters and some hot romance scenes. *blushes*

Hopping by to say Hello! I'm also a YA fan and love the genre! You can find me blogging here: http://blog.juliealindsey.com/
ReplyDeleteThat's one cute bird!
ReplyDeleteMy non-human family is my Brother-Dog Rocco, he's a Labrador/German Shepard mix.
I'm a bit like you, within the parameters of YA and Romance, I read pretty much everything
Hi, Liz! I gave you an award over at my blog. If you accept them come and take a look at it. :)

Ah, what a wondeful bird. My grammy wants one...
ReplyDeleteI have 4 cats who would eat said bird if I got it, 2 fiddler crabs, and a HUGE fish tank.
Today I posted a review of a grand Steampunkery Book! Please do check it out, I highly recommend Vampire Empire: The Greyfriar if you want Steampunkery and a mix of many genres. A new favorite... indeed a huggable book!

Just found you through the Blog Hop! I'm a school librarian and a huge YA fan as well. Like you, pretty much anything YA will do it for me :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

We always had a cockatiel growing up! My mom loved birds and fish!

I definitely love YA because it lets go of all the "rules". You're so right - you can find a prince, a vampire, or discover you're a witch queen...way more fun than the grown-up stuff.
ReplyDeleteYour bird is lovely.
Megan @ Read It, See It
I'm the same...I love reading across genre's within YA. :)
ReplyDeleteAww, I used to have a bird! His name was Elvis and we lost him a long while ago :(
ReplyDeleteAnd like you, I also read books in the YA genre, but anything like paranormal, contemp, dystopian...I'd read those ;)
I'm not fussy when it comes to YA either - I'll read dystopian, fantasy, and contemporary through to historical (and often combinations of genres, too!)
ReplyDeletehopping by :)
ReplyDeleteI also love all of the possibilities of what can happen. I think that's why I like fantasy/paranormal so much.
Visiting on the blog hop tour! I'm a new follower and I enjoy reading YA too, but I'll try pretty much anything unless it is really frightening or has a lot of erotica. Yeah, too old for that I guess. Anyway...come visit if you get the chance: http://bookendcrossing.blogspot.com/2011/01/book-blogger-hop-tour-1-14-to-1-17-2011.html
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Hopping through. So cool that you have a bird. I always thought it would be funny to get a bird and teach it to say swear words or sing It's a Small World...but I'm sure I'd regret it. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy Hop
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW your bird is absolutely adorable!!! :D
