SUMMARY
MY THOUGHTS
A precious copy of Shakespeare's First Folio has gone missing from the Bodleian Library in Oxford and the Rare Books conservator who had been charged with its care has suddenly died in a car accident reminiscent of Mycroft's parents seven years ago. When Professor Walsh, a leading Australian pathologist, is asked to assist in the case, he takes Mycroft with him to investigate, unknowing his assistant's strange behaviour lately is connected to every new clue uncovered that seems eerily familiar.
In London, the nightmares of Mycroft's past await his return, but does he say goodbye to Rachel before he leaves? No! He leaves a text message when he's already boarded his flight and thousands of miles away. A TEXT MESSAGE! Rachel, of course, is furious her boyfriend could just leave like that, but more importantly, she is worried about him.
Mycroft has always been tight-lipped and guarded about anything in his tragic past, and Rachel is afraid being in London will cut open the emotional scars that have never healed. Impulsively buying a plane ticket, she follows him to England not knowing how he'll react, only that she can quietly support and stand by his side until he breaks down his walls and lets her in.
A sense of foreboding pervades the pages of Every Word. Every time I turned the page, I felt on edge and anxious, like some new detail could emerge and just change everything. And if the sexual tension between Mycroft and Rachel was just a curious spark in Every Breath, then it has ignited into a blazing inferno in Every Word. Every kiss, every touch is loaded with sensuality and a yearning for more. Team #Wattscroft forever! Mycroft and Rachel are brilliant characters who just completely balance each other.
Ellie Marney's Every Word is one of the most sophisticated, meticulously researched YA murder mysteries that I've ever read. The forensic techniques and explanations/theories devised during the investigation all felt within the realm of possibility. Elle Marney has surely outdone herself this time! I absolutely loved Every Word. What an amazing crime thriller! Move Ellie Marney's Every series to the top of your TBR right now—you'll be thanking me for the recommendation later when you're done binge-reading it.
And just for fun, because Ellie Marney's Every series is loosely inspired by Sherlock Holmes, I'm also embedding SHINee's song Sherlock • 셜록 (Clue + Note) from a few years ago because I can't resist mentioning K-pop music whenever I can!

SUMMARY
James Mycroft has just left for London to investigate a car accident similar to the one that killed his parents ... without saying goodbye to Rachel Watts, his 'partner in crime'.
Rachel is furious and worried about his strange behavior - not that Mycroft's ever exactly normal, but London is the scene of so many of his nightmares. So Rachel jumps on a plane to follow him ... and lands straight in a whole storm of trouble.
The theft of a copy of Shakespeare's First Folio, the possible murder of a rare books conservator, and the deaths of Mycroft's parents.... Can Watts help Mycroft make sense of the three events - or will she lose him forever?
Sparks fly when Watts and Mycroft reunite in this second sophisticated thriller about the teen sleuthing duo.

Aside from the great mystery in Every Breath, I loved the relationship between Mycroft and Rachel. I think it's great that they start out being close friends first, and the more romantic feelings between them built up slowly. *swoon* I've heard the that Every Word is even more swoon-y. I can't wait! I also love that it's set in Australia, because I don't read enough books that are.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
