Maggie Stiefvater revealed the book trailer for her upcoming release, The Scorpio Races, yesterday on her blog! I am always blown away by the time and effort that must have gone into creating her stop motion animated trailers... and Maggie's artistic talents are just amazing as her writing!

Release Date: October 18, 2011
Publisher: Scholastic Press

It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. Some riders live. Others die.

At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.

Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn’t given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen.

  1. Maggie's trailers are always awesome and they are some of my favorites too.

  2. Wow, seriously WOW. Maggie Steifvater is a genius, simple as that. I already pre-ordered this book:) Thanks for sharing with everyone!

  3. I did enjoy the mythology presented in this novel. I don't know a lot about the folklore behind the idea of the water horses. But, I really liked the way it was presented here. I did have a hard time wrapping my head around what they should look like. One minute I would imagine an actual horse but then it wouldn't fit with the action of killing someone. A lot of the time I kept picturing the thestrals for Harry Potter.
