Waiting on Wednesday (50) - If I Die by Rachel Vincent

9:00 AM

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine spotlighting upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.

Release Date: September 27, 2011
Publisher: Harlequin Teen

Summary (from Goodreads):
No one wants to be this teacher’s pet...

Everyone else is talking about Eastlake High’s gorgeous new math teacher, Mr. Beck, but Kaylee Cavanaugh has bigger things on her mind. Kaylee’s a banshee—her scream is a portent of death.

But the next scream might hit too close to home. Kaylee’s borrowed lifeline has almost run out.

Yeah—it’s a shock to her, too. So to distract herself from her own problems, Kaylee is determined to defend her school against the latest supernatural threat. That hot new teacher is really an incubus, who feeds from the desire of unsuspecting students. The only girls immune to his lure are Kaylee and Sabine, her boyfriend’s delinquent ex-girlfriend. Now the unlikely allies have to get rid of Mr. Beck…before he discovers they aren’t quite human either.

But Kaylee’s running out of time, and those who love her will do anything to save her life.

Anything.
I feel like I'm beginning to suffer the symptoms of Tod withdrawal. It has been awhile since my favourite reaper has made me laugh, giggle, smile... and well, swoon in general. And I miss Kaylee too! She's grown so much over the course of the series and this latest development, in which her borrowed time has begun to run out, has me both excited and dreading what's going to happen. I definitely can't wait to read If I Die to find out!

Oh September, why must you be so far away?

  4. Can you believe that I haven't read anything by Rachel Vincent yet. Books are always coming out faster than I can read them...maybe one day I will start this series.

  6. I haven't heard about this series, until just seeing your WoW and now I want to check it out and see what it's all about. I'm hoping my library has at least one of the books, if not then I may splurge and get the first one to see what it's all about.

The cover of this one looks gorgeous! :)

  7. Alex- Yes, you should definitely give them a go! I always recommend the series to those looking for a supernatural read that doesn't fall under the usual werewolf and vampire categories.

Jenny- I know, right? Rachel Vincent is like a writing machine! She seems to write so fast!

    Mimi- Woot!! Team Tod!!

Suz- You may not feel the effects of Tod's awesomeness at first, but he really does grow on you as you read the novels!

  8. I am with you on the Tod withdrawal! I am hoping the Tod/Kaylee dynamic ramps up in If I Die...seriously, Team Tod FTW. I'm liking the urgency of the borrowed time, I wonder how that will be resolved...
