SUMMARY
From the New York Times bestselling author of the Chicagoland Vampire novels, a brand new Devil’s Isle Novel...

The paranormal war that engulfed New Orleans seven years ago is over. But the battle for the city is just beginning . . .

Claire Connolly is a Sensitive, infected with magic when the Veil that divides humanity from the world beyond fell. Magic can easily consume and destroy a Sensitive, and if Claire’s secret is discovered she’ll be locked into the walled district of Devil’s Isle along with every other Paranormal left in the city.

Bounty hunter Liam Quinn discovered Claire’s secret, but refused to turn her in. Together they saved New Orleans from the resurgence of magic that nearly destroyed it. But now a dangerous cult is on the rise, and it will take both Claire and Liam—and magical allies within Devil’s Isle’s towering walls—to defeat the growing threat before magic corrupts them both...

MY THOUGHTS
In Chloe Neill's The Sight, we return to a dramatically changed New Orleans still recovering seven years later from a deadly paranormal war. Claire's perception of the war has now greatly changed. Paranormals aren't all evil and dangerous like Containment would have them all believe. Some are just as much victims, forced to fight and now imprisoned in Devil's Isle when the Veil stopped them from returning home to the Beyond.

But while Claire feels much more sympathetic to Paras these days, not everyone feels the same. A mysterious new cult called Reveillon has risen from seemingly nowhere, aiming to cleanse the world of all Paras and magic. Claire and Liam must work together once again to protect their friends and beloved city from this new immediate threat. Because Reveillon is targeting not only Paras, but also any humans with associations to them.

I felt so much yearning for Claire and Liam to be together! They've become really good friends ever since Liam took Claire under his wing, training her as a bounty hunter and reforming her understanding of Paras and magic. But Claire doesn't want to be just friends anymore. Liam has valid reasons for not pursuing their relationship further, but the sexual tension is getting harder to ignore whenever they're together. So you can imagine my excitement when their relationship finally took a new turn!

The only reason I didn't quite enjoy The Sight as much as The Veil is because it didn't include as much magic this time around. It actually takes a different direction than most urban fantasy sequels would take, choosing to explore more of the human politics behind the scenes. I've become so accustomed to the villains being powerful paranormals that I've forgotten humans can be just as dangerous.

With rich world-building, danger at every turn, and Chloe Neill's trademark snark found in all her novels, The Sight is a fantastic addition to the Devil's Isle series. And the thrilling conclusion left me gasping in shock! The stakes have definitely been raised for Claire and Liam, leaving me wishing I already had the final book of the trilogy in my hands.
