Spotted! Cover of The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
12:39 PMThe cover for The Immortal Rules, the first novel in the Blood of Eden series, by Julie Kagawa was officially revealed at MTV's Hollywood Crush this morning!
Release Date: April 24, 2012
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Summary (from Goodreads):
You will kill. The only question is when.
In the dark days since the insidious Red Lung virus decimated the human population, vampires have risen to rule the crumbling cities and suburbs. Uncontested Princes hold sway over diminished ranks of humans: their "pets." In exchange for their labor, loyalty and of course, their blood, these pets are registered, given food and shelter, permitted to survive.
Unregistered humans cling to fringes, scavenging for survival. Allison Sekemoto and her fellow Unregistereds are hunted, not only by vampires, but by rabids, the unholy result of Red Lung-infected vampires feeding on unwary humans. One night, Allie is attacked by a pack of rabids, saved by an unlikely hero...and turned vampire.
Uncomfortable in her undead skin, Allie falls in with a ragtag crew of humans seeking a cure, or cures: for Rabidism and for Vampirism. She's passing for human...for now. But the hunger is growing and will not be denied. Not for friendship—not even for love.
I'm rather hesitant to start any new series centering around vampires these days... but how can I resist when it's written by Julie Kagawa, one of my favourite authors? I'm very excited to read The Immortal Rules for its fresh and dark vampire premise!
What do you think of the cover? I really do love how it captures the gritty side of vampirism perfectly and the blood dripping from her eye is creepy in a very cool way.

Love this cover! So seriously awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, It's a darker cover but matches what I've read from the book summary.
ReplyDeleteSOOO excited for this! I'm 3/4 way through The Iron Knight now and am officially a Julie Kagawa fan (only recently been catching up on the series, shame on me!). So I will read anything else she writes. This sounds amazing anyway and the cover looks creepy awesome!
