Dilemma! So Many Authors Coming to TORONTO This Weekend!
7:07 PMI've noticed that there aren't usually many authors who make the trip to Toronto for signings. All the time, you hear about signings in the U.S., so it's really cool when an author finally makes the trek North. In fact, I went to my very first couple signings this year and they've been such great experiences that I can't wait to go again!
And this weekend? Many AMAZING authors will be in town! Both the Teen Read Awards and the Smart Chicks Kick It! Tour (which I've read many blog posts about!) will be taking place!
But the dilemma part? I was fully planning to go to the Smart Chicks Tour even if it meant missing the chance to meet Ally Carter (again!) and Becca Fitzpatrick, but then in a LAST MINUTE move, Richelle Mead and Carrie Jones will also be signing books together on Saturday. The problem? It's at the EXACT SAME TIME as the Smart Chicks Tour but at a different Chapters/Indigo location. I'm so sad because I would have liked to go to both, but it's just impossible to be in two places at the same time, and one is outside Toronto while the other is right in downtown.
So, this is the run-down of the events happening this Saturday, September 25 in and around Toronto:
12:00 p.m.
2:00 p.m.
Richelle Mead, bestselling author of the Vampire Academy series, will be signing along with Carrie Jones, bestselling author of the Need series!
~ Alyson Noel, bestselling author of the Immortals series
~ Kelley Armstrong, bestselling author of the Darkest Powers series
~ Melissa Marr, bestselling author of the Wicked Lovely series
~ Melissa de la Cruz, bestselling author of the Blue Bloods series
~ Jeri Smith-Ready, author of Shade
~ Jennifer Lyn Barnes, author of Raised by Wolves
~ Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl, bestselling authors of Beautiful Creatures
I was originally planning to go the Smart Chicks Tour, but I've now changed my mind and will be at Indigo Yonge & Eglinton now. It was a tough choice, but I simply can't pass up the chance to meet some of my fave authors. I'll just have to hope that the Smart Chicks Tour will return once again next year.
And then at 7:00 p.m. (red carpet at 6:00 p.m.), I'll be off to the Teen Read Awards! I'm really excited and at least I'll still get a chance to meet/see some of the authors I'm missing at the Smarts Chicks tour.
Who will win? I can't wait to find out! If you follow the Teen Reads Awards on Twitter, they'll be tweeting that night about the event, winners, and even giving away prizes! And if you have any questions to ask the nominees, they're also taking them right now! So tweet away!
And um, I also recently got a Twitter account too... so if you'd like, you can follow me here. =)

I've noticed that when authors do come up north they are most likely to be in Toronto. Very few come to Vancouver :( So this weekend is packed with author signings in TO and I am so jealous. I know authors sign stock at the bookstore so even if you don't get to meet them you can still get a signed copy. Or if you have a blogging buddy in TO you can split up and go to the different events to get you books signed.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting! I wish I was a bit closer to Toronto... it's so bad when authors finally come up here, but it's still 2 hours away. It would probably be worth it this weekend if I could have gotten Teen Read tickets, but I'm too old, haha. Oh well! I'm sure you will have an amazing time, and I can't wait to hear all about it from everyone! =)
ReplyDeleteI'm driving from Kingston to Brampton for the Smart Chicks Kick It signings! And I read about all the others and am saddened that I cannot attend them all as well.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping they keep popping up in TO over the next year! :) This will be my first signing event ever so I am really excited.
Wow! I wish some of them would come to my neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteEchoing Jenny here...you lucky Torontonians! :P It's so rare for them to come to Vancouver...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, yeah, the Canadian Book Blogger directory's just starting up but I thought it was a fabulous idea too :D I'm always so happy when I stumble across another blogger from Canada!
So jealous of all you Canadians! That is so awesome :)
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy though because it usually isn't like this and then all of a sudden, everything's happening on the one day...
ReplyDeleteCrystal- I hope you enjoy the Smart Chicks Tour and can't wait to hear all about it!! :)
